But here's your Re-Cap of The Week: On our last show, we talked about none other than, Alice in Wonderland. Oh my god, did we have a blast talking about that. Because, seriously the dude must have been on all kinds of drugs to come up with a story like that and not to mention his unhealthy relationship with the little girl Alice who inspired the author. Can we say pedophile? Next week, has yet to be decided. But as soon as we know, you will know.
So before we get started into today's topic, I just wanted to let you guys know what will be doing every week. Just note, that the segments aren't necessarily in order for each week like it was when we were on radio. These topics will vary depending on what we plan on researching for the week.
The topics are:

To kick things off, I wanted to talk to you guys about, Halloween: History & Origins. So, let's get started!
What is the origin of 'Halloween'?
Since Halloween itself originated in paganism, it is not surprising that its customs are related to pagan belief. According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica, In ancient Britain and Ireland, the Celtic Festival of Samhain was observed on October 31, at the end of summer…. The souls of the dead were supposed to revisit their homes on this day and the autumnal festival acquired sinister significance, with ghosts, witches, goblins, black cats, fairies and demons of all kinds said to be roaming about. It was the time to placate the supernatural powers controlling the processes of nature. In addition, Halloween was thought to be the most favorable time for divinations concerning marriage, luck, health, and death. It was the only day on which the help of the devil was invoked for such purposes. The Pagan Roots of Halloween
What are other names for Halloween?
Other names for Halloween are:
1. All Hallows Eve
2. All Saints' Day
3. All Souls' Day
4. Hallowed End
5. Samhain
6. Hop-Tu-Naa (Isle of Man)
Who is Halloween?
Who Was Halloween Named After?
How Did Halloween Get Its Name?
-The Celtic holiday Samhain was adopted by Christians and turned into a christian holiday.
-Samhain was celebrated the day before All Saints Day (November 2nd).
-Samhain became "All Saints Evening"
-All Saints Evening became "All Saints Even"
-All Saints Even became "All Saints Eve"
-Then the Christians changed All Saints Day to "All Hallows Day" to commemorate christian souls.
-"All Saints Eve" became "All Hallows Eve", which then was shortened to "hallows eve" then to "Halloween"!
The word Halloween is first attested in the 16th century and represents a Scottish variant of the fuller All-Hallows-Even ("evening"), that is, the night before All Hallows Day. Although the phrase All Hallows is found in Old English (ealra hālgena mæssedæg, mass-day of all saints), All-Hallows-Even is itself not attested until 1556.
When did Halloween started?
Halloween started with the Celts in what is now Ireland around like 2,000 years ago. The Celts celebrated the end of the harvest and the beginning of the days getting shorter and the nights getting longer these long, dark nights made people think about death, as they do today.
Where did the custom for dressing up for Halloween?
The Celts believed that on the night of October 31st, the boundary between the living and the dead became blurred. They thought that on this night the ghost of the dead came back to Earth they would build big bonfires and dress-up in animal masks and skins to frighten away the spirits, but then, overtime, it changed into ALL HALLOWS because the church taught that you were supposed to hallow the dead.
Why did Halloween go from good to evil?
According to the Vatican, Halloween really IS evil and should be replaced with HOLYWEEN so children can dress up as saints and pray
-Vatican's first conference of exorcists warned of dangers to children
-Says Halloween to blame for huge rise in demonic possessions in October
-Catholic official says Vatican receives 100's of calls from worried parents
The Catholic Church has called for Halloween to be scrapped and replaced with 'Holyween' - a night in which children would attend prayer vigils and dress up as saints. The Vatican's first official conference of exorcists warned of a danger to young people at Halloween when there is an increase in occult activity.
Father Aldo Buonaiuto, of the International Association of Exorcists, which met in Rome at the weekend, said that a spike in demonic possessions in October is down to the phenomenon of Halloween. The organisation's emergency number receives hundreds of calls over this period, around 40 a day, especially from parents who fear that their child has been initiated into the occult, he said.
He said: 'Many say Halloween is a simple carnival, but in fact there is nothing innocent or fun about it - it is the antechamber to something much more dangerous. 'There are always more evil rituals, animal sacrifices, desecrations of cemeteries and thefts of sacred bones at the time of the 31 October. Participating in Halloween is 'like an initiation into the occult', he said.
'For the sects it is the best time of year to recruit new members. From here the door to the devil can be opened. For this reason its necessary for us to speak out and not play down the danger.'
To replace the 'dangerous' festival the Catholic Church in Italy have now launched the initiative 'Holyween', he said.
'While most people are seeped in zombies and horror we put on our door or windows a light or an image evocative of the saints. 'And then there will be masses, prayer vigils and worship to celebrate the saints and victory of good over evil.' The conference of 300 exorcists from all over the world took place over the weekend after being officially recognised by the Vatican in June.
At the conference, Pope Francis warned them that they must treat those possessed with 'kindness'.
He wrote in a message: 'Those who perform this particular ministry, in conjunction with the bishops' must work 'with love and kindness from the church towards those who suffer because of the evil one'.
More than many of his predecessors, Pope Francis likes to insist that Satan is real and speaks frequently about the Devil's work.
Last year he was captured performing an apparent exorcism. In astonishing footage he placed his hands on the head of a boy in a wheelchair, reciting an intense prayer until the boy slumped down exhaling sharply.

Concealers I Recommend
I suffer from sever under eye circles because I don't get too much sleep. So, I'm stuck using different kinds of concealer to cover them up. Depending on how bad they are, I'll reach for a specific one. But remember, use whatever concealer you have on hand. This is just what I recommend but you don't have to get all of them.

Beauty Scenario Tag
The Questions:
1. You have to get rid of all your foundations and you can only keep one high end and one drugstore, which do you keep? High End: Clinique Stay Matte Liquid Foundation and Drugstore: Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder.
2. You go for an interview and the lady interviewing you has lipstick on her teeth. Do you approach the subject or ignore it completely? I would tell her because if it were me, I would want someone to tell me.
3. You're not feeling yourself and need a pick me up. Which lipstick do you put on to make yourself feel beautiful? Red Lipstick.
4. You go back in time for a day to your teenage years, how would you do your hair and makeup differently? Well, for one, I wouldn't dye my hair platinum blonde; I think dying it that color ruined my hair. And two, maybe go easy on the eye makeup because I was Gothic/Punk and I blacked out my eyes and wore either: Black, Red or Purple Lipstick.
5. You ask your hairdresser for a shoulder length Pixie Lott hair cut, but they hear wrong and give you a pixi cut.
Do you:
a) Smile, say thank you, leave and call your mum hysterical
b) Cry in the chair and things get awkward
c) Complain to the manager and demand a refund.
I would go for C. This actually happened to me once. I wanted my hair cut into layers and the dumb bitch cut all of my hair. I had my hair down passed my ass and when she got done with me, I had no hair at all. As you can tell in this photo. ----->
6. Your friend surprises you with a 4 day city break and you have 1 hour to pack. Which 'do it all' palette do you pack in your makeup bag? I would take my Lorac Pro Platte because it has both shimmer and matte eyeshadows.
7. Your house has been robbed, don't worry everyone is safe, but your beauty stash has been raided. What's the product you really hope is safe? All of my high end makeup. I paid a lot of money for that.
8. Your friend borrows your makeup and returns it in awful condition.
Do you:
a) Just pretend you haven't noticed
b) Ask them to repurchase it
c) Secretly do the same to something of theirs
Honestly, I would ask them "What the hell happened to my makeup?" If it is high end, I would ask them to buy me another one and give them the one that they ruined. But, if it is drugstore, then I'm not too worried about it.

Aveeno® Positively Radiant® VoxBox Review
Hey Guys! Okay, so The Influenster Team contacted me about Aveeno® Positively Radiant® VoxBox. The product that they sent me was the Targeted Tone Corrector.
So, here are some things that they want me to answer for you guys:
1. Let your readers know how the Aveeno® Positively Radiant® Targeted Tone Corrector has transformed your skin!
2. Review the Aveeno® Positively Radiant® Targeted Tone Corrector and let everyone know how #RadiantwithAveeno you feel.
3. Give your followers some tips & recommendations for how to best use the Targeted Tone Corrector!
Alright, let's start off with question #1: When I first tried it, it make my face feeling all tingly. Not sure if its a good thing or a bad thing? Considering I have sensitive skin. But, I did use this all over my face including underneath my eyes where I get dark circles that no concealer can manage to hid. But with this, I see the difference as to before. My dark circles are getting better, granted its not a miracle or a one stop shop, it takes time.
Question #2: Well, what can I say about this? I Tweeted about it and you guys should follow me on Twitter to get more updates and scoops about my life, career, health and predictions: @crhserenity
Question #3: Okay, for this one it says to use it at AM and PM but I use it in the AM. If the tingling is a bothersome, then use it at night. How-To Use: First your eye cream, then this product, moisturizer, primer and your regular makeup routine. If your a guy, then just skip the primer and makeup routine.

********************************************************************
What is the origin of 'Alice in Wonderland'?
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (commonly shortened to Alice in Wonderland) is an 1865 novel written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll.
********************************************************************
Who is Alice in Wonderland?
It tells of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. The tale plays with logic, giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as with children. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre. Its narrative course and structure, characters and imagery have been enormously influential in both popular culture and literature, especially in the fantasy genre.
********************************************************************
When was Alice in Wonderland born?
May 4, 1852 is when Alice in Wonderland was first created by Alice Pleasance Liddell (/ˈlɪdəl/; 4 May 1852 – 16 November 1934). She inspired the children's classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson), when she asked him to tell her a story on a boating trip in Oxford. The character of the fictional Alice is not, however, based on her, as many had assumed. Relations between the Liddell family and Dodgson continue to provoke speculation—including, in late twentieth century biography, allegations that Dodgson took an unhealthy interest in the child. Liddell married a cricketer Reginald Hargreaves, and they had three sons.

Where did Alice in Wonderland come from?
The classic children's book was born on July 4th, 1862. Where did Wonderland come from? Alice and the Author? You’ve fallen down a rabbit hole, only this time you’re not in a room full of doors, no, you’re on a rowing boat on your way to a picnic with you two sisters and two close friends. It’s July 4th 1862 and you want Charles to tell you one of his strange whimsical story’s for the journey. You hear him talking of rabbit holes and white rabbits in waistcoats, doors, talking animals, a red queen with an enormous head, you hear him talk of Wonderland.
The story teller, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson better known as Lewis Carroll was close friends with the Liddell family. Dodgson was the eldest of eight siblings. The Liddell family became friends with him after their father was appointed church dean at the church were Charles worked as a mathematician. The Liddell’s had three daughters Edith, Lorina and Alice. The girls got on well with Dodgson as they liked the strange, exotic and engagingly whimsical stories that he told them.
Wonderland came alive on July 4th 1862, when the three girls, Dodgson and one of his friends Robert Duckworth set out on a rowing boat from Folly Bridge to Godstow to have a picnic. The three daughters wanted Charles to tell them one of his fascinating stories. Charles told them a tale of a girl named Alice who fell down a rabbit hole and found herself in a bizarre new world. The real Alice, Alice Liddell, was so taken with the story that she asked Charles to write it down for her, which, of course he did. Late he added a few more chapters and illustrations so the story, and named the tale Alice’s adventures underground. A friend of Dodgson, an author George McDonald read the story to his children and they were taken with the story to, he highly encouraged Charles to get the tale published. In 1865 Dodgson changed his name to Lewis Carroll and had his book published by Macmillan.
There are some rumours that Dodgson favoured Alice Liddell, and that there are connections with her and fantasy Alice. For example the poem through the looking glass every letter at the start of each line spells out Alice Liddell’s full name, Alice Pleasance Liddell. Also the two Alice’s are the same age although both Alice’s are the complete opposite, Alice Liddell has short dark hair were as fantasy Alice has long blonde hair and is short in size. Both Alice’s even had the same birthdays, May 4th. Incidentally, it also seems that the character of the Red Queen in Through the Looking Glass owed something to the Liddell children’s alarming governess. Dodgson denied that he intended to portray Alice Liddell in this whimsical tale.
In 1963 the friendship between the Liddell’s and Dodgson broke down for unclear reasons, it might have been that Alice’s mother was uncomfortable with Alice’s and Dodgson friendship. A part of his diary that explains this was torn out by one of Dodgson’s descendants. After a few months polite relations were returned but none of the earlier warmth of the friendship. Dodgson died in 1898, he remained a bachelor until his death, and Dodgson revealed the nature of his feelings for Alice Liddell in his diary but poured ink over it a few days before he passed. Alice Liddell died at the age of 82 in 1934, Alice married Reginald Hargreaves who died in 1926, and Alice’s was so short of money that she sold the original manuscript of Alice’s adventures underground for £15,400. In her last years she said that she was “tired of being Alice in wonderland.”
********************************************************************
Why did Alice in Wonderland go from good to evil?
Alice in Wonderland isn't an evil story at all but there are good and evil characters within the story.
********************************************************************
How was Alice in Wonderland created?
Is Alice in Wonderland really about drugs? Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is, on one level at least, the story of a girl who disappears down a rabbit hole to a fantastic place full of bizarre adventures. The heroine follows a talking white rabbit, meets the Queen of Hearts and plays croquet using flamingos as mallets. Since the 1960's there has been a trend for readers to identify an underlying drug theme in the book. The Cheshire Cat disappears leaving only the enigmatic grin behind. Alice drinks potions and eats pieces of mushroom to change her physical state. The caterpillar smokes an elaborate water pipe. The whole atmosphere of the story is so profoundly disjointed from reality - surely drugs must have had an influence? After all this was the era of legal opium use.
Jefferson Airplane's 1967 psychedelic anthem White Rabbit runs with the drug theme. "When the men on the chessboard get up / And tell you where to go / And you've just had some kind of mushroom / And your mind is moving low / Go ask Alice, I think she'll know."

How to: Create the Perfect Beauty Vanity Table
How to: Create the Perfect Beauty Vanity Table
By Kristina Ioannou
(Beauty Editor)
Ahoy hoy DDGDians. I survived the move to my new apartment, oh yes I did, and I lived to tell the tale.
As expected, my number one priority when was organizing the gallons of beauty products I'd brought along with me. It was literally the first thing I got stuck into, and took preference over hanging up my clothes and arranging my shoes (judge me).
The almost-finished product is the above pic, and I gotta say, I'm pretty proud at how quickly I threw it all together. When I was done, I kind of felt like strutting down the street, pimp stick in hand, a smug smile on my dial. Like a boss, like a boss.
But where was I? Ah, yes, today's post is going to be short and sweet (or shorter than what you're used to), because last week's rant was a whopper. But short and sweet is good, because it means you can go scurry off and start creating the vanity table of your dreams, right? Right-o.
Below I've listed what I used to set up my makeup stand and some tips and tricks to help you assemble your own. Let's begin!
- Purchase a booze cart: It's seriously the best thing I've ever done. I scored the above bar cart from Adore Home-wares, this adorable little Melbourne interior store below the DDG office and I'm in love. It set me back just under $300 but it was so worth it!
- Purge everything: I literally spent about 3 consecutive hours going through mountains of products until I nailed it down to my ultimate favourite items that I wanted to have on display at all times. The rest I stowed away in my bathroom cabinets and storage cupboards, and anything that remained I threw into a box to give away to family and friends (lucky ducks!). Having a small assortment of products makes setting them up neatly a cinch, and the display looks beautiful and clean. In the image above, you might have noticed that there's a few gaps. They're being reserved for my skincare prods which I'm yet to go through. It's hard having to choose between my babies!
- Store your loot in glass jars: The amount of glass jars, vases, glasses and little vintage plates I've been collecting over the past year is phenom (that's phenomenal to you non-insta using, Ja'mie King watching folk). I've nabbed these items from op shops, two dollar stores, home-wares stores and even grabbed a few from my mum's glassware cabinet (soz, mumsy dear). You can store pretty much any kind of treasure in these vessels, be it lipsticks, nail polishes or makeup brushes. They're seriously the best!
- House your lipsticks in clear cube storage squares: A new thing I've been doing is investing in clear stationary cubes. You can find them at your local post office, Office-works or even online (try eBay), and they're fantastic for storing your lipsticks in. I've been color-coding all my lippies and I've got about 200 more to go through. Gulp.
- Cake stands make for great perfume holders: They do indeed, so go and get yourself one (ask mum nicely) and sit all of your pretty fragrances on top.
- Get some flowery friends: While I wish my pink posies were real, I really can't be bothered having to replace them each week when they die, so fake flowers are the next best thing. They offset the beauty products gorgeously by adding a pretty, feminine touch that completes the overall set up.
- Add the finishing touches: I've popped a wrought iron mini Eiffel tower, a candle and a few empty art deco vessels in amongst my beauty loot for added decoration, but you can adorn your table with anything you like, really. Whatever your style is, just go with it. Either way, I'm sure it will look amaze!
Have you been struck by a beauty lightening bolt?
Will you be throwing together your own vanity table?

How to: Beautify Your Vanity
How to: Beautify Your Vanity
By: Deven Hopp
Staff Editor
A quilted cushion sitting atop a low-backed stool placed neatly under an elegantly distressed vintage desk; the desktop adorned with porcelain jewelry boxes, crystal canisters and pink powder puffs. What we've just described is a vanity of the Pinterest variety. A dreamy, mythical space that we choose to believe only exists in the imaginations of professional Photoshopers, but never in real life. In real life, your average vanity looks more like a disaster zone–an explosion of beauty products with no rhyme or reason. Said vanity may not even be a vanity at all. But no matter what space you’ve made into your own little makeup haven, it has the potential to be a picturesque escape. Just remember these simple, glamorizing tips…
Display Something Pretty Above
Creating a beautiful beautifying station begins with the space around you. Chances are you spend a decent amount of time at your vanity, so give yourself something nice to look at while you’re there. Hang some of your favorite jewelry pieces from decorative knobs, put up black and white photos or create a miniature gallery wall using your favorite artwork.
Choose an Antique Mirror
There’s simply nothing attractive about a lighted magnifying mirror. It doesn’t look nice sitting atop a vanity, nor does it feel nice looking into it. Use an antique vanity mirror instead. Trust us, you’ll be able to see just fine. If the natural lighting around you isn’t sufficient, add a small table lamp. This will provide more flattering lighting than overhead beams.
Create a Serene Color Scheme
Make your lipstick and eyeliner color choices as exciting as you please, but avoid strong colors on your vanity. Light colors will open up the space and make it easier to see all of your beauty bits and pieces. Soft shades like pale pink or sky blue feel inviting and calming. Start with neutrals and just add a few accents of color to keep the space feeling clean.
Add Ambiance With Small Touches
Vanities are not typically the largest areas to work with, so a full bouquet of flowers may not be the best use of space. But sometimes simpler is chicer (and cheaper). A single fresh bloom is just as effective at infusing the room with natural fragrance and color. A favorite candle also goes a long way in creating ambiance.
Use a Variety of Decorative Displays
Plastic organizers are great for storing makeup…in drawers beneath your vanity. On top of your vanity, choose items with more charm, like mirrored trays. Or DIY a vanity tray out of an old gilt frame and a piece of fabric. Use an assortment of pieces in different shapes and sizes to organize beauty products. Try bringing a cake stand into the mix—the height of a tiered stand will add interest and give you more space to place your trinkets. You can even make your own makeup storage stand out of a few trays or plates separated by (and glued to) candlestick holders.
Be Selective With What You Show
And finally, after all that color scheming, atmosphere creating and display decorating, it all comes down to what you put out on your vanity. Save bent up bobby pins and beat up nail files for the bathroom drawer. This is the place where you display eye-catching perfume bottles, clean makeup compacts and a few shiny pieces of jewelry. Are you a lipstick queen and a sucker for pretty packaging? Pick your favorite gilded tubes and lay them about. Always go back to the same three shades of pale pink polish? Since they go so well together, keep them here for a touch of color.
Have we inspired you to beautify your vanity?

The Unexplained S1E10 Bedtime Stories: The Legend of Phantom Knocking
The Chira Project is covering different types of bedtime stories that will scare the pants off of little children. If you know of any kind of scary bedtime story, please share it with us. This is our Tenth bedtime story is none other than... Phantom Knocking!
********************************************************************
What is the origin of 'Phantom Knocking'?
Phantom Knocking is when a unseen phenomena knocks out of the blue. No one knows as to why these things happen and for what. In folklore and parapsychology, a poltergeist is a type of ghost or other supernatural being supposedly responsible for physical disturbances such as loud noises and objects moved around or destroyed. Most accounts of poltergeists describe movement or levitation of objects, such as furniture and cutlery, or noises such as knocking on doors.
Poltergeists occupy numerous niches in cultural folklore, and have traditionally been described as troublesome spirits who haunt a particular person instead of a specific location. Such alleged poltergeist manifestations have been reported in many cultures and countries including the United States, Japan, Brazil, Australia, and most European nations, with early accounts dating back to the 1st century.
The word poltergeist comes from the German words poltern ("to make sound") and Geist ("ghost" and "spirit"), and the term itself roughly translates as "noisy ghost" or "noise-ghost".
********************************************************************
Who are these Phantom Knockers?
Phantom Knockers or Ghost Knockers are the unseen's way of getting your attention. It's there way of communication with you among other ways. No one knows for certain what ghosts are, or if they even exist; some believe that they are spirits of the dead who for whatever reason get "lost" on their way to the afterworld; others think that ghosts are the souls of people whose deaths were violent or premature.
********************************************************************
When was Phantom Knocking born?
Honestly, no one knows for sure when Phantom Knockers were born or when the first one to exist. My theory on Phantom Knocking are just regular people like you and me that have past away and have not moved/gone into the light. By them knocking is there way of getting a message out there to you, weather or not the message is good or bad; its up to you to determine and/or decipher the messages/clues that it is been given upon you.
********************************************************************
Where did Phantom Knocking come from?
Phantom knocking is a related link between all manifestations from the spirit world. whether it be good or bad, to factually state an origin point would be too empty of a guest-imitation on mine and Chira's research. I would roughly say based on the limited information on the subject its simply a phenomenon.
********************************************************************
Why did Phantom Knocking go from good to evil?
Poltergeists have also been claimed to be capable of pinching, biting, hitting and tripping people.
A poltergeist is perhaps the best-known — and most feared — type of ghost. It is a spirit that is said to harass and torment its victims. This harassment typically includes minor but mysterious and disturbing events such as loud sounds, moving furniture, sheets and covers being pulled off beds, small objects inexplicably falling off shelves, stones rising off the ground and being hurled at people, and so on.
********************************************************************
How was Phantom Knocking created?
Its a favored move to use in the arsenal of a spirit/entity, etc. I believe it was honestly a stumbled across scenario when someone from the physical world re-acted to the noise caused from the knocking.

Weird Stuff: 10 Scientific Explanations For Ghostly Phenomena
By: Nolan Moore
September 30, 2013
According to a 2005 Gallup poll, 37 percent of Americans believe in haunted houses, and according to a 2013 HuffPost/YouGov poll, 45 percent believe in ghosts. These are surprising numbers, but the next time you hear a spooky sound, don’t call the Ghostbusters—get a scientist instead. Behind every shadow, poltergeist, and disembodied voice, there’s a perfectly rational explanation.
