Steps/Process of Making Your Room a Tumblr Bedroom!
Fairy Lights:
A way to hang fairy lights is to swing them across the ceiling. It’s literally the most relaxing thing ever! You can do this on top of my bed so it feels really cozy! All you will need is Soft Yellow or White Christmas Lights. If you don't know how to hang them up, I'm pretty sure you can find a tutorial on it or ask your: Dad, Brother, Uncle, Friend, etc... to help you out. Christmas lights or fairy lights are almost always in every hipster room.Plus,it makes the room really cozy! You can get them at any store or wait until after Christmas and get them on sale. Just make sure to buy the indoor ones because you wouldn't want to burn your house down with outdoor ones!
Lights:
In almost every Tumblr room you are going to see lights strung around the room. Christmas/fairy lights are very cheap after Christmas. But if you don’t want to wait that long I know thrift stores have them for really cheap too! (You just can’t count on all the bulbs working) What you’ll want to do next is find a way to hang them up. Once again it really doesn't matter how you hang them or where. But as you can see it is very pretty, and its really nice to have them on right before you go to bed! For hanging them I would honestly recommend putting in a nail or maybe a thumb tack.

- Lights from one end of the room to the other suspended in the middle
- Lights surrounding the border of a window
Drawings/Artwork:
It could be something you drew,a drawing a sibling made you or maybe something your friends drew. They’re much more special and sentimental than posters. Plus they add a personal touch to your bedroom. Or you could find some awesome artwork from Google and just print them out. By doing that you are saving yourself a lot of money. Rather going out and buying it and going broke, this way you have it for free and just say that you spent a fortune for it.
Posters:
Have lots of them or even have a whole wall covered in them. Every Tumblr room has tons of posters! They can be of your favorite bands,role models or vintage musicians/bands. If you don’t want to damage your walls you can hang them with tack ‘n stick.
Wall Quotes:
These are really easy to make. All you need is either plain white printer paper or magazine pages to get one like in the picture. Choose a quote, then open any writing program like Microsoft Word or Open Office (You can get free ones online) Choose a format then trace the letter from the computer screen onto the paper. Cut it out and stick it onto your wall. You can use tack’ n stick to stick them so it doesn't damage my walls or use a lot of tape.
Quotes:
So in most Tumblr rooms there are quotes somewhere in the room. Choose a quote that you like! Maybe something that describes you or maybe it’s from your favorite song, or it’s just your favorite quote! Anything works! For example, “If I lay here would you lie with me and just forget the world”. Or “Settle down with me, cover me up, cuddle me in”. Like I said sky’s the limit! Now in my opinion the best way to get these quotes onto your wall is to get some old magazines that you obviously don’t want to read anymore, or if you don't have any, I know goodwill or any other thrift shop usually have magazines for maybe a dollar at most! Then you can either just free hand cut them out like I did, or what I know some people do is go on Word, and in however big you want them, type out the quote, and then print it, and then use it sort of as a stencil so that the letters can be nice and neat!(:

Messy/Undone Bed:
You can still make your bed and I highly recommend it so it makes your room look cleaner but you could get another blanket such as a throw blanket and make it look messy and undone like you just sat or lied down on it. Every time I don’t make my bed I think it looks really cozy and it actually makes a BIG difference in your room’s look!
Cozy Bed:
Make your bed! Your bed is usually one of the biggest pieces of furniture in your bedroom so make sure that it looks super cozy! Have like 7 or a bunch of pillows around the edges or at the top on your bed and have a throw blanket at the end of your bed. (Your cat will really appreciate it if your throw blanket is fluffy). And make it look cozy and comfy! It’ll look great!
Trophies/Certificates/Medals:
You could hang your medals and certificates on your wall and get a nice wall shelf to show off your trophies and other accomplishments!
Glow in the dark decals:
You can find these star decals for super cheap at a dollar store or a similar store if you don’t live in Canada.You could stick some of them on your ceiling and it’d look really cool!
Vintage Things:
Anything vintage really makes your room look even more like a Tumblr room. It could be old poster,old soda bottles, old books or just random vintage pieces! Look at Aria Montgomery’s room on PLL. It has a couple of vintage items and it looks really cute!
Records:
You can put a lot or just a couple. You can get these for really cheap a thrift stores. You can hang these with tack n’ stick.
Books:
They can be recent ones but those old vintage ones you can find at thrift stores add much more of a vintage effect that looks really cool in a hipster room! (take Aria’s room as an example of what I mean!)
Old Mirror:
This is as convenient as it is pretty! It makes your room look more girly and allows you to apply makeup in front of it. You could get one attached to a desk or a separate one that you could just hang on your wall.
Blanket Forts:
These are found everywhere on Tumblr and I think they’re really cute! If you make a really steady and pretty one you could keep it in your room. You could make a fort on top of your bed or anywhere else. For some people including me, that have not yet mastered the art of making a blanket for without it looking like a blind cat made it, then you really don’t have to do this since not many Tumblr rooms have one in most cases!
Color:
If you are pretty much starting on an empty canvas of a room then what you’ll need first is paint. I suggest something that can pretty well match with anything. A neutral color. But any color is fine no matter what. (And if you are not painting your room then just skip this step it’s totally fine) :)
Finding a spot:
Okay so now we get to the decorating part! Well from what I've seen and from my own personal experience, a lot of people kind of find one area of their room where the majority of the decorating goes. I would personally choose by my bed or a desk or something. But it’s your room so whatever you choose is up to you!
Pictures:
Find a bunch of pictures or things you can make into a collage of sorts! The pictures can be of anything you want, they can be from a magazine, or posters, or pictures of you and your friends and family, favorite band, anything! Figure out where you want to put them or if you want to make a design out of them. I've seen people do many different things with them, such as make them into a heart shape! And if you don’t want to make a collage you don’t have to! But just put a bunch of pictures and posters on your walls and it’ll look awesome!
Simplicity is Key.
This post is a tribute to white. White walls, sheets all give it a very cool clean look. And that way, you can pile on the wall decor and have it look all artistic and create a nice ambiance. If you’re more of a perfectionist, white photo frames are perfect for you. You can even frame up messy pretty scrapbook paper you found, anything works! :D If you’re the more is better type, pile it on! You’re favourite momentous on white shelves, all artfully arranged.
